Rita Letendre is considered one of the most eminent living abstract artists in Canada and Gallery Gevik is pleased to present a special exhibition of never-before-seen early works from the artist’s formative period and beyond. Join us in celebrating Rita’s birthday and the opening of our exhibition on Saturday November 2nd from 2 – 4 pm.
November 2 to November 28, 2019

Daphne Odjig’s paintings, drawings and prints span over fifty years and on this centennial anniversary of the artist’s birth, Gallery Gevik is pleased to present a career-spanning retrospective and celebration, showcasing rare works from the 1960s to the 1990s. Opening Ceremony at 2:30 pm on September 28, 2019 by Dr. Elder Bob Phillips followed by a panel discussion on the Artist’s life and work with multi-disciplinary artist and curator Bonnie Devine, art historian & curator Dr. Elizabeth McLuhan, & Chief Curator of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Sarah Milroy.

A group exhibition showcasing the evolution of Indigenous Canadian art from pioneers Norval Morrisseau, Alex Janvier, Daphne Odjig, Carl Ray, Roy Thomas, and Eddy Cobiness, through to contemporary artists, Bob Boyer, Carl Beam and Glenna Matoush.
August 13 to September 5, 2019.

An exhibition of new paintings, Rivet draws from his experience of the rich diversity of Inuit and Métis culture. Influenced by other ancient shamanistic societies throughout the world, for Rivet art is a meditative process, one that mirrors the shaman’s function as mediator between the spirit and human worlds.
