Michael Arviyut (Arviat) - Artist Biography

Michael Arviyut (male); Inuit sculptor; Arviat, Nunavut, Canada.

He is the grandson of Arviat carver, Eva Talooki Aliktiluk, who is known for her beaded figures. Michael learned to carve at the age of 13 from watching his grandmother. His sculptures are stylistically influenced by her artwork. He enjoys sculpting beaded figures, shamans, hunters, spirits and whales.
