Sukkualuk Akesuk

Artist Biography

Sukkualuk Akesuk was born on March 3, 1959, in the community of Cape Dorset located on Baffin Island in the Northwest Territories. Sukkualuk comes from a family of carvers. His adopted parents are the artists Simaiyok and Latcholassie Akesuk. Latcholassie is the son of Cape Dorset sculptor Tudlik. Sukkualuk's adopted sister, Milutituk Petaulassie, is also a sculptor.
